The idea behind Bliterations is a simple and earnest one: to feature engaging, analytical and didactic writing on electronic games and their influence on culture as a unique facet of media. While this core philosophy seems a bit broad, it is intentionally so; “electronic games” encompasses many platforms and genres, while “culture” and “media” are also open to interpretation, as I feel that they should be for this blog. What Bliterations aims to do is serve as a source of thoughtful writing on games and gaming by myself and a diverse range of guest authors, each of us with an original voice and viewpoint. Don’t think of the site as an excuse for “academia” per se, but rather as a stage for smart discussions on a form of entertainment with ever-growing importance.
